Way up High

Coming down from cloud nine after arriving in Lucerne, and seeing such breathtaking beauty, has not yet happened. In fact, we went higher today. And to get there we went on the steepest cog wheel railway in the world. From Lucerne, we took a cruise across the lake, stopping in at sweet little bays and towns. The train was unlike any I’ve ever seen. It definitely looked as though we were climbing a wall in it…48 degree gradient to be exact. Thank goodness for good hand brakes?! At the top, we looked down on Lucerne and the surrounding towns and lakes. A view that definitely deserved several moments of silence. I did my best to capture the moment, but the photos of today will never match the memory created.

It was a gondola ride which took us down a different side of Mount Pilatus and to an adventure park of a high ropes course, bike tracks…and tobogganing! Yes, we went tobogonning. I was breaking on every corner to begin with but after the first few manoeuvres I zoomed down that track, catching up to the guy in front. Success.

Every purchase here feels like we are getting ripped off BUT a truly amazing day which we have both thoroughly enjoyed.
